AAPI Communities Can Change the Course of Congress.

40 AAPI elected officials and community leaders join Stop AAPI Hate Action in urging AAPI voters to help elect a new congressional majority in the 2026 U.S. midterms, and change the direction of our country.

As America marks 250 years, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are still fighting to secure its founding promise: that every person belongs and every family should have the opportunity to thrive.

Today, that promise is in peril.

Across the country, fear and scapegoating are once again being used to divide us. Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and communities throughout the nation face growing attacks on our rights and our place. Politicians in the grip of Trumpism use hate to distract us from what our families need: affordable housing and health care, good jobs, safe communities, and a better future for our children.

Anti-Asian hate cannot be separated from attacks on immigrant families, voting rights, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ equality, climate justice, or economic opportunity. These are all part of the same struggle over who belongs and whose lives matter.

The truth is that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have always fought for a better America for everyone, even if our stories are seldom told.

Our communities have resisted “Yellow Peril” and “Dusky Peril” hysteria, survived xenophobic exclusion, and challenged the idea that we will always be foreigners. We have organized farmworkers for dignity, opposed imperialism in the Pacific, won redress for World War II incarceration, and confronted racial profiling after 9/11. We have rejected the model minority myth used to divide us from other communities, built a movement to stop anti-AAPI hate, and fought for peace, immigrant rights, and racial justice for all.

That history calls us to act again.

This November, control of Congress could come down to just a handful of seats. Asian American and Pacific Islander voters can help decide not only who controls Washington, D.C., but the direction of our country.

We have the power and the responsibility to act. That is why we are coming together and calling on our communities to mobilize for a new majority in Congress:

  • Register yourself and others to vote at APIA VOTE, and please share APIA Vote’s multilingual voter hotline (1-888-API-Vote), so your networks can get trusted assistance in multiple Asian languages.
  • Donate to Stop AAPI Hate Action to ensure our communities receive culturally relevant and in-language outreach too often missing from campaigns.
  • Sign up to receive emails and volunteer with AAPI House Calls to speak directly with AAPI voters in key Congressional races.
  • Support local AAPI civic engagement organizations in the Asian American Power Network who are building long term power.

Our communities have always changed America for the better. Together, we can do so again.

Sincerely, AAPIs for a New Majority
