Early exit polls indicate that a strong majority of Asian Americans cast ballots for Democrats in the midterms, rejecting Trump and the GOP’s agenda of hate and division. We must now ensure the new Congress delivers.
A new chapter begins today – one filled with hope for a better future in which all people in America are treated with equality and dignity, no matter where you come from or who you are.
To every Asian American and Pacific Islander who cast a ballot, and to every volunteer who helped turn out AAPI voters: thank you. You helped flip Congress. Early exit polls indicate the majority of Asian Americans voted against Republican candidates and were the deciding factor in close races across the country.
It’s clear the American people want a different direction for this country. We are sick of the racism, hate, and division that Trump and his loyalists have stoked for years. We have had enough of ICE terrorizing our communities and ripping families apart. We are done with politicians who prioritize billionaire donors and corporations over everyday families struggling to afford housing, groceries, and healthcare.
Now, with the GOP set to lose control of Congress, we have a better chance to hold Trump and his loyalists accountable for their abuses, to rein in rogue federal agencies like ICE and greedy oligarchs like Elon Musk, and to adopt policies that protect our rights, our safety, and our democracy.
There’s no doubt this midterm win is major. But it is not the end of the fight. Democrats asked for our votes, and now we must hold them to their promises. We also know the system remains tilted in favor of a handful of Trump-aligned billionaire oligarchs who are trying to dictate the outcome of our elections, the news and information we see, the prices we pay, and the policies that shape our lives.
We can and will overcome these challenges if we work together in solidarity. As the new Congress steps into power, Stop AAPI Hate Action will continue mobilizing AAPIs – the fastest-growing racial group in America – to vote, organize, and take action to build an America free of the hatred, inequality, and corruption that have spiraled under Trump’s leadership.
