What started in 2020 as a local effort against COVID-19 related racism has transformed into a national movement for racial justice.

OUR STORY

In 2020, when President Trump wrongfully blamed China and Asian people for the COVID-19 pandemic, we started Stop AAPI Hate to track the rise of hate and violence that followed. Five years later, what started with three people and a website has helped galvanize a nationwide movement — bringing together millions of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and allies to advocate for the resources, policies, and political recognition that our communities need to thrive.

Today, we stand at another pivotal moment, once again confronting grave threats fueled by the hateful words and actions of those in power. Trump’s racist, anti-immigrant agenda is putting everyday families in the line of fire — reminding us why our fight must continue. Over the past five years, we’ve transformed pain into power, silence into strength, and fear into action. We have shown the world that AAPI communities have strength in numbers, and we will never let hate stop us.

"As the U.S. has seen a surge in racist, anti-Asian attacks—from terrifying assaults on senior citizens to the tragic mass shooting in Atlanta—no coalition has been more impactful in raising awareness of this violence than Stop AAPI Hate."

Cathy Park Hong

"Few nonprofit leaders accomplish as much as the co-founders of Stop AAPI Hate have in such a short time. Their unwavering commitment to justice and equity has transformed public discourse and empowered marginalized communities in remarkable ways."

Krystal Ka‘ai, Former Executive Director

“I’m really grateful for your organization—because in a situation where I felt powerless, being part of the statistic gives me at least a little sense of power. If you can be out there sharing information and actual data about what’s happening, that already gives me hope.”

FUEL THE MOVEMENT

Over the last five years, our supporters have powered our movement to defend our civil rights and — but now, that movement is under threat. In recent weeks, the Trump administration has terminated millions of dollars in critical funding to organizations like Stop AAPI Hate.

A monthly or annual gift to Stop AAPI Hate provides critical funding to arm our communities with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities needed to rise up against the forces of racism and xenophobia.
