#MyImmigrantRoots

The vast majority of Asian Americans are descended from immigrants, and there is a growing population of Pacific Islander immigrants in the U.S. Amid growing racist, anti-immigrant attacks, it’s more important than ever to share the stories behind our immigrant heritage and affirm our collective right to call America home.

Tell Your Story

Share Your Immigration Roots

How did you come to call the U.S. your home? We’re inviting all Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to answer this question — to make sure our experiences are seen, heard, and remembered. If you feel inspired to learn about your roots, share them with us; it’s a simple and straightforward process. We invite you to:

Step 1

Discover

Look through photo albums, search the attic, or talk to your family members about their journey to America.

Step 2

Reflect

Find a photo or take a picture of something that represents and connects you to your immigrant roots. It could be a snapshot,  recipe, or heirloom.

Step 3

Share

Write a couple of sentences about the significance of this photo and post it using the hashtag #MyImmigrantRoots.

Each and every story will be reviewed by our team, and some of them will be shared on the story wall above.
